Having gained my qualifications I started life as a graphic designer for a small print firm in Gateshead. Here I learned about the importance of having an eye for detail and turning a job around in a short space of time.
I stayed here for two arduous years before moving over the Tyne to a software company north of Newcastle. Here I learnt about product design and producing catalogues.
It was here that I first learnt of the internet and designed my first site for them, selling products online to those with visual impairments. Here the importance of accessibility and usability made itself clear to me back in 1998
In 1999 I started my own web design consultancy after moving south. The work was plentiful but the payment was not. However good the standard of what I achieved was, the client simply didn't pay. So I made a decision to sell up and sell out. I joined a large publishing firm, part of a huge corporation, in 2000.
In retrospect I was lucky as the crash of the internet happened later that year with several agencies and online businesses folding. I started as a web designer, became senior in 2001, and an assistant manager in 2002. In 2003 I became web design manager and now project manage the main creative online projects from our internal web design department, part of RBI Creative.

| INTERESTS |

|
|
I'm interested in most things online - no surprise there really. All sorts of Flash work from Praystation (Joshua Davis) onwards. I'm interested in Scandinavian design (furniture and product) and their work shown on the web. I like Italian product (Alessi) and car design (Pininfarinna). Mainly for the seamless way they integrate design as a necessity to their products. Viral work of all sorts, from games to video shorts. I love animation of all types and of course film.
